7 Reasons Why I’ll Never Go Back to Tent Camping

  • admin

Camping can be one of the most therapeutic experiences for people who are feeling cramped in the hustle-and-bustle lifestyle of city living. It’s also a great time in general, so if you haven’t already - I’d consider checking it out.

Looking up at the stars, roasting marshmallows, and drinking ice-cold beer is synonymous with camping and when you’re out in the forest with nothing but a tent and some bug spray, it’s hard to focus on all the great things that make camping relaxing.

Tents

Tents are just about the worst way you can spend the night outdoors. For one: they’re cold. The sometimes freezing temperatures of the outskirts of the city can be troublesome if you’re from the eastern side of the United States, so gathering up a flimsy tent can be unnecessary.

Another less than stellar feature tents suffer from tends to be the set-up. Nobody on the planet enjoys putting up a tent, especially when it’s below freezing and you can’t even feel your hands. I’ve put together more tents than I’d like to admit, so I know how horrible it can be when you’ve never set up that specific tent before.

It helps to practice with the set-up before you actually go out in the wilderness - I learned that the hard way. Make sure you know how to put it together with your eyes closed if you’re going out in the snow, but if you want to avoid the cold altogether, then I have something that might strike your fancy.

Traditional Trailers

The traditional trailer is something you’ve probably seen one hundred times before. They’re easily attachable to your trailer hitch, and even if you don’t have one of those, you can buy one at any auto parts store in town.

The greatest part about the travel trailer has to be its cost. Other options like Fifth Wheels can be expensive, so if you’re only looking to spend a few nights at a time in your trailer, then I’d recommend a traditional travel trailer.

The travel trailer is also very easy to set up. And believe me, I know from experience how hard it can be to hook up the fifth wheel, only to realize halfway through that I had made a mistake at step one, resulting in a very frustrated customer.

Fifth Wheels

Fifth Wheels are the epitome of luxury when it comes to camping. They’re larger trailers, like enormous. Some of them even come complete with an entire second level that can fit up to two people comfortably. Sometimes they’re also sporting a lavish center room with a TV and all the rest of the essentials.

Now, I know that the more we talk about these luxurious vehicles, the farther we get away from the essence of camping, but that’s not a problem. All of your camping needs will be met when you set up your awning and lawn chairs to surround them around the campfire. No tents needed.

If you’re going camping in a warm climate and you’re short on money, then the tent is the way to go. However, if you have any self-respect or money in your pocket, the best way to go is the travel trailer. If you have a ton of extra cash laying around and want to travel the country, the fifth wheel is the obvious choice. Have fun out there.
